"There's a lot of confusion. It's a bad atmosphere, bad for consumption," says Thomas Kemmerich, who owns a chain of hair salons with 50 locations and 320 employees, mostly in eastern Germany. "We've been hit, and so have lots of Mittelstand firms" by concerns over Greece and inflation, he said. Mittelstand are mid-size companies that form the backbone of Germany's economy.
